This project is the continuity of my previous work on micro-realities (birds / eden / somewhere) and interactive media (clonemachine).
The aim of this research will be to create situations where you can experience dis-connected realities. The questions I want to ask are : how do I react when I immerse into another aspect of reality? Is it reality itself or just a simulation? If it’s real, could it be another unsuspected reality? If it’s fake – what is real?
The fact to develop that project as a live experience is crucial. It’s a way to break the screen through which we are use to confront ourselves with other realities.
The first project for this research will be a visual and sound interactive installation where visitors can act like performers.
They can decide to enter into another sound dimension by the way of sound balls. Those kind of helmets simulate an isolation box. By entering the head inside of the ball or by removing it you will interact with the sound performance.
From the outside, you can see embedded/integrated bodies in an environment which enclose them in a simulated reality. The visual strength of the installation will be created by this situation. The sound balls and walls of the room will be recovered by a particular material (fabric).
The sound performance will be created in collaboration with the experimental noise musician Jean D.L. aka No John, who works with a sensitive aspect of sound. The emotional aspect of this experience will depend of this collaboration.
For the first step of this project, the installation could be developed within the framework of a residency.
